Plastic is very helpful in our daily life but what happens when we threw it away which is causing a huge problem on our planet. Problem with the plastic is that it is not biodegradable, it won’t rot like food or paper, and still in the environment for hundreds of years. There are many plastics that are of single-use like bottles, plastic bags, and crisp packets, etc.

Problem Statement:

Pollution due to plastic becomes an important environmental issue especially in developing Asian and African countries where proper garbage collection systems are inefficient or doesn’t even exist.

I have been researching this for a very long time that in our country there are no proper garbage collection units specifically in Karachi plus people are not educated enough about the cause of pollution due to plastics. They burn it which cause more pollution.

I have been studying in NED since 2017 and it’s my last semester, during the tenure of my studies, this problem also exists among us. We, students, throw bottles in our street most of them and don’t even realize how it will affect our life. There is around 8 minutes walkway from the parking lot to my department and during this time I do observe my surroundings. Even NED set the dustbins around in every corner but most of us threw their plastic wastages in the streets.

I have interviewed my friends who study with me and people who live nearby me. They all have the same answer, “everyone is throwing trash on the street and it doesn’t affect so much if we throw them in the dustbins”.

We follow each other whether it is good or not but most of the time it is bad. For bringing a change in our society, we must change ourselves and do a small act of kindness whenever we get a chance like throw our trash in dustbins, help others, and lift others as well and that’s how a true leader born.
